[How to use]
The steps to build an EC2 instance with LK-L and LKWMC set up using the LK-L components are as follows:
- Prerequisites
As a requirement for using EC2 Image Builder, the region in which you create an AMI must have a default VPC.
This will be used in the infrastructure settings for creating an image pipeline in step 2 below.
- Creating an image recipe
For more information, see "Step 2: Choose a Recipe" in the EC2 Image Builder User Guide tutorial.
Please set the following values.
Item Value Image Operating System (OS) Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8 x86 Build components If you use Recovery Kit for EC2 or Recovery Kit for Route 53, you will need AWS CLI, so add the [Amazon Management] - [aws-cli-version-2-linux] component. Add [AWS Marketplace] - [sios-lifekeeper-for-linux-prod-3eelqedjitewi]. - Creating an image pipeline
For more information, see the tutorial "Tutorial: Create an image pipeline with output AMI from the Image Builder console wizard" in the EC2 Image Builder User Guide.
In step 2 of the tutorial, select the recipe you created in step 1 above.
- Running the image pipeline
Select the image pipeline created in step 2 and run it from Actions.
Wait approximately 20 to 30 minutes for the execution to complete.
If it completes normally, an AM image will be created.
- Creating an EC2 instance
Create two EC2 instances from the AMI image created in step 3.
- Access your EC2 instance via SSH.
The user name is ec2-user for Red Hat Enterprise Linux.
For the certificate, use the key pair that was set when creating the EC2 instance.
- Configure a LifeKeeper GUI user account for each EC2 instance you created.
For details, see "Configuring GUI Users".
Example) Add "admin" user to lkadmin group
sudo useradd -g lkadmin admin
sudo passwd admin - Setting up access to LKWMC
- If the EC2 instance you created is in a public subnet, please configure network security to allow connection from a client PC via TCP Port 5110.
The URL to access it will be like this:
https://{IP address or host name}:5110/lkgui/# - If the created EC2 instance exists in a private subnet, use SSH port forwarding.
For more information, see "Connecting to the LKWMC Through a Bastion Host in a Cloud Environment".
- If the EC2 instance you created is in a public subnet, please configure network security to allow connection from a client PC via TCP Port 5110.
- Access LKWMC
Access LKWMC from a client PC using a web browser.
An SSL certificate warning will be displayed, but proceed.
Sign in to LKWMC using the user account (e.g. admin) and password created in step 6 above.
[Usage notes]
- Only x86 architecture is supported, ARM is not supported.
- The LK-L components are located in the us-east-1 region. Therefore, if a failure occurs in the us-east-1 region, you may not be able to create an AMI using the LK-L components.
